DNA is the structure containing two polynucleotide chains, which are held together by weak chemical bonds between the organic bases. Each nucleotide consists of a 5-carbon sugar (deoxyribose), a nitrogen-containing base which is attatched to the sugar, as well as a phosphate group. There are 4 base types, these being Adenine and Thymine, which are complemetary to each other, as well as Cytosine and Guanine.
